Putting The “Cool” Back Into Buckling Up
I was having fun watching my niece play with dozens of pool inner tubes when another relative shows up. Never one to surprise me, he shows me a fashion statement I’d never seen before. How do you get your kids to wear their seatbelts?
The key here is repetition. Just like a medical school education, repetition is what makes us experts. Doing the same thing over and over again makes us great at what we do. To get your kids to wear their seatbelt every time, you must make it a part of their daily existence. How do you do that? You buy them a “seatbelt” belts from Honda.
My relative says they run about $20 and are “official Honda gear.” Everyday he has to buckle his seatbelt. Over time he just gets used to having his sea tbelt on. And once he gets in the car, this repetition will eventually spill over to the real seatbelt.
I did, however, find myself wondering if one could fight a ticket in court for not wearing your seatbelt if you had one of these Honda “seatbelt” belts on.
This is some wild fashion gear, but a pretty cool idea nonetheless. I always wear my seatbelt, even if I’m only driving a couple blocks. Perhaps buying the Honda “seatbelt” belt for your child is the key to one day saving his or her life.
How do you get your children to wear their seatbelts? You buy them Honda fashion gear and put the cool back into buckling. And if you’re not a Honda fan, it looks like Amazon is even selling a Mustang belt, a checkered-flag Viper belt,
and a pot-leafed “seatbelt” belt
. They even sell recycled airline “seatbelt” belts
. If you want to cruise through almost 1,000 examples of these things, click here.
